Description
The CLEARTEST Calprotectin is a rapid test for the detection of a bowel disease from the stool sample.
Calprotectin, also named human leucocytes protein, is in the inner of the neutrophil granulocytes and has amongst other things an antimicrobial effect.
With help of the biomarker calprotectin, from which it is possible to infer indirectly to the faecal immune cells, the doctor receives information about the intestinal inflammatory activity.
An increased calprotectin value (> 50 µg per gram stool) indicates an inflammatory bowel disease, as there are Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, diverticulitis, etc., as well as their inflammatory processes.
